Bra calculator size looks too big? Check the fit, not the letter.
A D cup on one band is not the same volume as a D cup on another. The letter alone is weak evidence.
Ignore the cup letter for one fitting
Use the recommended size as a test. Settle the breast tissue into the cups, position the wire around the breast root, and judge what the bra actually does.
Signs the cup really is too large
Look for empty space through most of the cup, fabric collapsing after adjustment, and wires extending well past the breast root.
Signs it only looks too large
If the band is firm, the wire surrounds the tissue, and the cup contains without cutting in, the size may be closer than the label suggests.
Shape can imitate a size error
Tall cups can gap on shorter roots; shallow cups can press at the center while leaving space elsewhere. Construction matters.
What to do next
Use Bra Fit Rescue with the bra you have already tried. The tool combines band, cup, wire, center, strap, wear, and asymmetry signals rather than treating one symptom in isolation.

Used a bra size calculator and the recommended size still does not fit? Diagnose band, cup volume, wire, and shape before guessing again.

Top-only cup gaping does not always mean the cup is too large. Compare lower-cup fill, cup height, neckline shape, and strap placement first.

If cups gap near the straps, rub the armpits, or feel like too much bra, cup height may be the problem rather than cup volume.
